Hopefully you are not at that fire, or another one that has the same bug?) It is only able to be used for a heat rpoducing fire until the bug is fixed. There is one campfire in the Raven Falls Ravine transition map that is glitched, and the cooking stones are buried under terrain. (There are only 2 large stones that can be used for soking, so only 2 things cooking at once on campfires.
If you want to cook it in a pot you need to put the pot on the stone, click the pot once placed on the stone, and then slect the food to cook in the pot from the cooking menu that will open up.
you can drop the meat out of you inventory, onto the ground, and use the RMB to manually drag the meat or fish onto the stone. Do NOT use LMB, you will eat raw fish or meat, and probably get food oisonng, possibly parasites if it is wolf or bear meat. You either need to use the raidal menu, and select raw fish or meat from the radial, and use the RMB to place it on the stone.
